myLINGO started as a passion project for Adam and Olenka Polak during their residency at the Harvard Innovation Lab in 2012. As children of immigrants, the siblings grew up with a different vision, unique to those who share a multicultural background in America. They lived between two worlds: a part of them attached to the land where they were born and raised, and another part to the culture and language of their Polish family.

One of their favorite activities growing up was to go to the movies, but their parents’ language barrier prevented the family from going altogether as a group. Adam and Olenka used their combined skills to create an app that offers alternative language options at the movie theater. What began as an idea turned into a tool for providing a solution to the language barrier at the cinema, welcoming in new movie-goers to theaters nationwide.
